چکیده
The aquatic ornamental species (AOS) trade is a significant pathway for the introduction and establishment of non-indigenous into environments. likelihood such occurrences expected to increase worldwide as industry growth continues warmer conditions emerge under future climate scenarios. This study used recent (2015 – 2019) New Zealand importation data determine composition, diversity, abundance, arrival frequency AOS. Our analysis revealed that ca. 300,000 individuals are imported annually Zealand, with freshwater fish comprising 98% import quantities. Despite relatively small market size, estimated AOS diversity 865 taxa (89 9.5% identified genus level, respectively) comparable larger markets ∼60% being marine origin. DNA barcodes for biosecurity: invasive species identification.
Biosecurity encompasses protecting against any risk through 'biological harm', not least being the economic impact from the spread of pest insects. Molecular diagnostic tools provide valuable support for the rapid and accurate identification of morphologically indistinct alien species. However, these tools currently lack standardization. They are not conducive to adaptation by multiple sectors ...
متن کاملSpecies Delimitation and Global Biosecurity
Species delimitation directly impacts on global biosecurity. It is a critical element in the decisions made by national governments in regard to the flow of trade and to the biosecurity measures imposed to protect countries from the threat of invasive species. Here we outline a novel approach to species delimitation, "tip to root", for two highly invasive insect pests, Bemisia tabaci (sweetpota...

JAVMA, Vol 231, No. 6, September 15, 2007 F medicine has been a relatively small discipline of veterinary attention in the past because of many factors, the most important of which is the perceived value of pet and ornamental fish. As more people invest in expensive species, such as koi and various reef species, the demand to provide a higher level of care for these animals is increasing. This ...

متن کاملERA: Suitable Method for Estimation of Ecological Effects of Pesticide Contamination on Aquatic Species
An ecological risk assessment (ERA) was conducted for Shadegan Wetland in Iran. The objective of this study was to assess the risk to phytoplankton, zooplankton, invertebrate, insect larvae, and fish affected by pesticide in Shadegan Wetland. Five pesticides (DDT, Aldrine, Dieldrin, Ametryn and Lindane) were assessed to evaluate the impact to aquatic community in the Shadegan Wetland. The risk ...
